Squad Theater Policy
Usage terms, content responsibility, and limitations of liability
Last updated: July 31, 2026 | Squad Theater 3.0 The Grand Stage
What Squad Theater Is
Squad Theater is a free browser-based tool that lets people host a virtual “movie night” (or optional album listening session) with friends. Video and live audio are streamed peer-to-peer (P2P) from the host or designated streamer’s device to other participants via WebRTC. Jon Bailey provides the web interface and connection helpers only - not the movies, audio, chat, mic, or camera content shared during a session.
There are no user accounts, no central session archive of your films, and no monetization. Preferences and recent room codes may be stored in your browser’s localStorage only.
No Liability for User-Shared Content
Jon Bailey is not legally responsible for any video, audio, images, text, links, reactions, or other material that hosts, streamers, guests, or admins share through Squad Theater.
- All content is supplied and transmitted by users, not by jonbailey.xyz or squadtheater.jonbailey.xyz.
- Jon Bailey does not review, host, store, or distribute user media on a server for playback.
- Jon Bailey makes no warranty that shared content is lawful, accurate, safe, or appropriate.
- Participation is at your own risk. If you object to what is being shown or said, leave the session.
Your Responsibilities
By using Squad Theater, you agree that you (and not Jon Bailey) are solely responsible for your conduct and content:
- Copyright: Only stream material you have the right to share (your own work, public domain, or properly licensed content). Unauthorized screening of copyrighted films may violate law.
- Illegal or harmful content: Do not use Squad Theater to share material that is illegal, exploitative, harassing, hateful, or otherwise harmful.
- Privacy: Do not record or redistribute others’ streams, voices, chat, or camera without their consent where required by law. Camera and microphone are opt-in; respect others’ choices.
- Minors: Hosts are responsible for who they invite and what is shown. Squad Theater is not directed at children under 13.
- Room access: The Director controls the room, optional passwords, and may remove participants. Only share invite links and passwords with people you trust.
How the Technology Works (Privacy Note)
- Video and live mic audio travel directly between participants via WebRTC when possible, not through a Jon Bailey media server.
- A third-party signaling service (by default PeerJS Cloud) helps browsers find each other; it does not receive your video file. You may configure your own PeerServer / ICE servers in the Doctor panel.
- Text chat and reactions are relayed through the Director’s peer connection in the room.
- Stream Mode: local film files stay on the Director’s device; audience members receive a live WebRTC stream, not a downloadable copy hosted by this site.
- Sync Mode: each participant opens their own local copy of the same file (verified by a content seal). Only play/pause/seek control and chat travel peer-to-peer - the site never hosts the media.
- Optional PWA / service worker may cache app shell files for offline loading of the interface - not your movies.
Service Provided “As Is”
Squad Theater is offered free of charge, as is, without guarantees. Jon Bailey does not promise uninterrupted service, error-free operation, perfect sync, connectivity through every firewall/NAT, or suitability for any purpose. Connection quality depends on your devices, browsers, networks, and third-party services outside our control.
Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Jon Bailey, jonbailey.xyz, and squadtheater.jonbailey.xyz disclaim all liability for any damages, losses, claims, or disputes arising from use of Squad Theater - including but not limited to copyright claims, data loss, offensive content, mic/chat/camera disputes, failed streams, battery/data usage, or third-party service outages. Your remedy is to stop using the tool.
Copyright Concerns
Jon Bailey does not monitor private watch parties. If you believe content streamed through Squad Theater infringes your copyright, contact the person who hosted the session directly. For site-related inquiries only, reach out via jonbailey.xyz/connect.
Changes
This policy may be updated from time to time. Continued use of Squad Theater after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
